Who suggested the back end of a bus was comparable to a less-than-attractive lady? Not me.
Nearly 1,000 bus and coach back ends in this gallery demonstrate that watching the bus go can be an aesthetic (if not a travelling) pleasure.
It is part of a picture record of nearly 40,000 buses and coaches, plus ships, planes and trains, from the Alan O. Watkins Collection that is available for research on the web. |

Whoever said that some girls look like the back end of a bus needs to re-examine that statement. With or without a bustle, topless or not, there's something special about it that it doesn't matter whether there are Bristols to be enjoyed, or a shaped bustle to catch the eye, there is always something Regal about a Lowestoft lady, a burly Burlingham or a Coventry-born beauty that does the lie to Leyland's worst.
What better way to consider the merits of the Back End of a Bus than by studying thecurvaceous (and the not-so-curvaceous) at backendofabus.fotopic.net? |
